Eyelash Extension

Lash Extensions

Good aftercare makes a huge difference to retention, comfort and the overall health of your natural lashes.

Eyelash Extension Aftercare

For Classic, Hybrid, Japanese Feathering & Russian Lash Extensions

Your lash extensions need the right care at home to keep them looking clean, fluffy and full for as long as possible.

Good aftercare makes a huge difference to retention, comfort and the overall health of your natural lashes.

First 24 Hours

Please avoid:

πŸ’§ Excess water around the lashes

Be gentle around the eye area for the first day. Avoid soaking the lashes, swimming or directing strong shower spray onto them.

πŸ”₯ Steam & excessive heat

Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga and prolonged heat around the eye area.

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Heavy sweating

If possible, avoid intense exercise or anything that causes excessive sweating around the eyes during the first 24 hours.

πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ Touching or rubbing

Do not rub, pull, pick or play with your extensions.

😴 Sleeping face-down

Try not to squash your lashes into your pillow. Sleeping on your back or side will help prevent lashes becoming twisted or prematurely shed.

Clean lashes = better retention

🫧 Lash shampoo is an essential part of your aftercare.

Your lashes naturally collect:

  • oils

  • make-up

  • dead skin

  • dust

  • skincare residue

  • everyday debris

If this builds up around the lash line, it can affect how well your extensions last and can leave the lashes looking clumped or untidy.

We recommend:

βœ… Cleaning your lashes regularly with a professional lash shampoo

βœ… Using a soft lash-cleansing brush

βœ… Rinsing thoroughly with clean water

βœ… Gently patting dry

βœ… Brushing through with a clean spoolie once dry

Do not be afraid to wash your lashes.

Clean lashes generally perform far better than lashes that are left unwashed.

Using the correct professional aftercare products can help keep your extensions looking better between appointments and support good retention.

Ongoing care

Do:

βœ… Use a professional lash shampoo regularly

βœ… Brush lashes gently with a clean spoolie

βœ… Keep the lash line clean

βœ… Use only products suitable for eyelash extensions around the eye area

βœ… Be gentle when cleansing and drying your face

βœ… Book your infills every 2–3 weeks

Don’t:

❌ Rub, pull or pick at your extensions

❌ Use eyelash curlers

❌ Use oily or greasy products directly around the lash line

❌ Apply strip-lash adhesive over your extensions

❌ Try to remove extensions yourself

❌ Sleep with heavy eye make-up on

❌ Allow make-up and skincare residue to build up around the lash line

Mascara & eyelash extensions

Classic Lash Extensions

πŸ‘οΈ Mascara can be worn on Classic or Japanese feathering lashes if absolutely necessary, but it must be a mascara that is specifically suitable for eyelash extensions.

We recommend using the oil-free, lash-extension-safe mascara that we retail in salon, as using the wrong formula can affect your extensions and make them more difficult to clean.

Apply lightly and avoid repeatedly coating the lashes.

Hybrid, Russian Lashes

🚫 We do not recommend mascara on volume-based lash sets.

Mascara can close the fans, make the extensions stick together and spoil the soft, fluffy finish.

It is also much more difficult to remove thoroughly without putting unnecessary pressure on the extensions.

If you feel your lashes are no longer full enough, it is usually time for an infill rather than mascara.

Make-up & skincare

πŸ’„ Eye make-up can still be worn, but choose products carefully.

We recommend:

βœ… Oil-free eye products

βœ… Lash-extension-safe make-up remover

βœ… Gentle cleansing around the eye area

βœ… Removing all eye make-up before bed

Avoid thick creams, cleansing oils and rich balms directly along the lash line.

When removing eyeliner or shadow, work gently around the extensions rather than rubbing across them.

Why the correct products matter

✨ Good aftercare products are not just an optional extra.

Using the correct lash shampoo, cleansing brush and extension-safe products can help:

  • keep the lashes clean

  • prevent product build-up

  • keep volume fans fluffy

  • maintain a neat lash line

  • improve how your extensions look between appointments

  • support better retention

We stock professional products in salon that have been chosen specifically for use with eyelash extensions.

If you are unsure what to use, please ask us.

How often should I book an infill?

πŸ•’ We recommend an infill every 2–3 weeks.

Your natural lashes are constantly growing and shedding, so losing some extensions between appointments is completely normal.

The longer you leave between appointments, the more extensions you will naturally lose.

After 3 weeks

If too many extensions have been shed, your appointment may need to be booked as a full set rather than an infill.

For the best-looking lashes, we recommend keeping to a regular 2–3 week maintenance schedule.

What’s normal?

✨ Losing a small number of lashes each day is normal. 2-5

✨ Some natural lashes will shed with the extension attached.

✨ One eye may occasionally shed slightly faster than the other.

✨ Your lash line will gradually look softer as you approach your infill appointment.

This is part of your natural lash-growth cycle.

Please do not remove them yourself

🚫 Never pull, pick or peel off your lash extensions.

This can pull out or damage your natural lashes.

If you would like your extensions removed, please book a professional removal so they can be taken off safely.

Good aftercare = cleaner, fluffier lashes and better retention.

One thing I would make very prominent on the actual website page is the β€œClean lashes = better retention” section. That is probably the most important client behaviour you want to change, and it also naturally supports retailing your lash shampoo and cleansing brush.
