Brow Lamination
Good aftercare will help keep your brows looking healthy, glossy, defined and beautifully styled for as long as possible.
Brow Lamination Aftercare
For Brow Lamination with Tint & Shape
Your brow lamination has reshaped and softened the bonds inside each brow hair so they can be styled into a fuller, more lifted position.
Because your treatment also includes a tint and shape, looking after both the brow hairs and the skin around them is important.
Good aftercare will help keep your brows looking healthy, glossy, defined and beautifully styled for as long as possible.
First 24 Hours
Please avoid:
π§ Water on the brows
Keep your brows completely dry for the first24 hours.
Be careful when showering, cleansing your face and washing your hair.
π₯ Steam & excessive heat
Avoid saunas, steam rooms and very hot environments.
πββοΈ Swimming
Avoid swimming pools while your lamination is settling.
π ββοΈ Touching or rubbing
Do not rub, scratch or excessively touch your brows for the first24 hours.
π Heavy make-up around the brows
Avoid applying extra foundation, concealer or heavy make-up directly over the freshly treated skin for24 hours.
π΄ Squashing your brows while sleeping
Try not to sleep with your brows pressed heavily into your pillow on the first night.
First 48 Hours
βοΈ Avoid direct sunlight & sunbeds
π₯ Avoid saunas and steam rooms
πββοΈ Avoid swimming pools
Your skin can be more sensitive following waxing, threading or tweezing, so avoiding excessive heat and exposure will help reduce irritation.
Skincare β this is important
𧴠Avoid strong or active skincare around the brow area for 3 days after your treatment.
This includes:
β Retinol / retinoids
β Glycolic acid
β Salicylic acid
β AHAs & BHAs
β Facial scrubs
β Peels
β Strong exfoliating treatments
β Anti-ageing or resurfacing skincare
Ideally these products should also be avoided around the brow area for 3 days before your appointment.
Once the skin has completely settled, you can gradually return to your normal skincare routine.
Fake tan
π« Avoid fake tan on the face for 3 days before and 3 days after your treatment.
This includes:
β Spray tan
β Self-tanning mousse or lotion
β Gradual tan
β Tanning drops
Fake tan can interact with fresh brow tint and affect the finished colour.
Waxing can also remove tan from the skin, leaving a lighter patch around the brow area.
Conditioning your brows
β¨ This is one of the most important parts of brow lamination aftercare.
Lamination is a chemical treatment, so your brow hairs need regular conditioning afterwards.
We recommend using a professional brow conditioning serum morning and evening once the first 24 hours have passed.
This helps:
keep brow hairs soft and hydrated
reduce dryness and brittleness
maintain healthy-looking hairs
keep the brows glossy and groomed
help maintain your brow tint
support the condition of the brow hairs between treatments
Think of it in the same way you would condition your hair after having it chemically treated.
We stock professional brow aftercare products in salon and can recommend the best one for your brows.
Styling your laminated brows
πͺ Your brows are not permanently glued into one position.
Lamination makes the hairs much easier to manipulate and style.
Each morning:
β Brush the hairs gently into your preferred shape
β Use a clean spoolie
β Follow the direction shown to you by your brow stylist
β Add a brow styling gel if you want extra hold
If your brows look a little untidy when you wake up, this is completely normal β simply brush them back into place.
Whatβs normal after your treatment?
β¨ Your brows may look very lifted or slightly more dramatic immediately after treatment.
β¨ The hairs normally soften into a more natural finish over the following days.
β¨ Your tint will be at its darkest immediately after treatment and will gradually soften.
β¨ The skin may be slightly pink or sensitive after waxing, threading or tweezing.
β¨ Brow hairs can sometimes feel slightly firmer or drier immediately after lamination β regular conditioning is particularly important.
Looking after your brow tint
π¨ Your tint will naturally fade over time.
To help keep your colour looking fresh:
β Use a professional brow conditioner
β Cleanse gently
β Avoid excessive exfoliation over the brows
β Be mindful of strong active skincare
β Avoid repeatedly scrubbing the brow hairs
Professional brow tint generally lasts around 4β6 weeks, although this varies according to your skin, hair and skincare routine.
Don't over-pluck between appointments
π« Try to leave stray hairs alone.
Your brow stylist has created a carefully considered shape, and hairs that initially look out of place may form part of the shape we are working towards.
This is particularly important if you are growing areas of your brows back.
If you're unsure whether a hair should stay or go, leave it for us.
Growing your brows?
π± If we are working on improving your natural brow shape:
β Leave new growth alone
β Avoid tweezing between appointments
β Use your recommended conditioning or growth products
β Follow the brow shape we are working towards
β Attend regular appointments
Some of the small hairs that initially look untidy may be exactly the hairs we need to create a fuller brow in the future.
How long does brow lamination last?
π Brow lamination generally lasts around 6β8 weeks.
The result gradually grows out as your natural brow hairs move through their growth cycle.
How long your result lasts depends on:
your natural hair growth
the condition of your brow hairs
your skincare routine
how you style your brows
how well you condition them at home
Your stylist will advise you when your brows are ready for their next treatment.
Please don't laminate too frequently
β οΈ Brow lamination is a chemical treatment.
Repeatedly processing the hairs too soon can leave them dry, weakened or brittle.
Follow the timeframe recommended by your stylist rather than booking another lamination simply because some new growth has appeared.
